Where did you do your work experience?

What did you do?

I spent my work experience at St Mary's Hospital shadowing the Community Paediatric Occupational Therapy team. I went on visits to schools, clinics, equipment collection points and helped file, write reports and create resources for use with other therapy sessions. I also visited another hospital to help measure wheelchairs and see their effectiveness.

What did you enjoy most?

I enjoyed the fact that it was so diverse at places like the clinic. The school seating assessments were also really enjoyable. I especially liked the fact that I saw how much paperwork there is too. There are no surprises now!!

What did you learn?

I learnt that occupational therapy is diverse and rewarding for a career in the NHS.

Do you have any advice for other people?

Look in your local area to see what experiences you can get. They're always fun and worth every minute of your time!!
