What did you do?

Shadowed the orthopaedic technician in the plaster room and fracture clinic for 2 weeks

What did you enjoy most?

I enjoyed looking at the x-rays and talking to the consultants about the treatments and why they are given

What did you learn?

I learnt that fractures are immobilised in order to ensure that the bones heal straight and that children and the elderly are most often affected and the best way to treat them is to be cheerful and try to take their minds of why they are in hospital

Do you have any advice for other people?

Look for a placement that you think you will enjoy and make it your own. Ask if you can see certain areas and you might get to.
