Where did you do your work experience?

Birmingham

What did you do?

I spent some time at the Wellcome Trust, which is a clinical research facility. I also spent time in a respiratory medicine clinic and a radiology department and attended some lectures about careers and working at the hospital as well as basic life support.

What did you enjoy most?

I liked learning about basic life support and hand hygiene. We got to do practicals and got certificates.

What did you learn?

There are so many different areas of paediatrics!

Do you have any advice for other people?

Research the hospital and make sure you have a good application as you will need to have an interview to get a placement at Birmingham Children's Hospital. There will also be about nine other people on work experience there so you won't be alone. Finally, be prepared for working in a hospital - you may see things which can be upsetting.
