Where did you do your work experience?

Frimley

What did you do?

I completed my work experience at Frimley Park Hospital. I really want to become a midwife and I thought that by becoming a porter for a week, I would get an insight into hospital life. I escorted visitors and patients around the hospital, mostly patients in wheelchairs and hospital beds.

I found it all such an interesting experience, and I learnt so much!

What did you enjoy most?

I enjoyed talking to all the patients, and gaining first-hand experience of how the hospital is run.

What did you learn?

I learnt a lot about what goes on behind the scenes of a hospital.

I was lucky enough to meet up with a midwife in the week that I was there. He gave me a tour of the materity ward and told me what GCSEs and A levels I need to get, and good universities for a midwifery degree. It was so useful!

Do you have any advice for other people?

All I can say is that the NHS is such a big organisation and it has so much to offer. It is brilliant to do work experience because you gain so much!
