Where did you do your work experience?

Greenwich

What did you do?

I worked with the Patient Transport Service that takes elderly, very young and disabled people to and from hospital appointments.

I went to people's houses and to care homes to pick up people and keep them company in the ambulance until they got to the hospital. I also went around collecting people from hospital wards to take them home.

What did you enjoy most?

I enjoyed working with the patients and making sure that they were ok and just keeping them company. I also enjoyed going out in the ambulance.

What did you learn?

I learned a lot in the two weeks' work experience, including how to use an oxygen cylinder and equipment such as the carry chair and stretcher.

Do you have any advice for other people?

If you want to work in the ambulance service, I think it would be a good thing to do work experience with patient transport. Although you do not respond to emergencies, you still work with vulnerable people and begin to form a bond with them. I think it's a really nice feeling and very interesting.
